About the FujiFilm FinePix F500 EXR (FinePix F505 EXR)

The FujiFilm FinePix F500 EXR (FinePix F505 EXR), released in January 2011, is a travel-oriented superzoom compact. It pairs a 1/2-inch EXR CMOS sensor of about 16 megapixels with a 15x optical zoom covering 24-360 mm in 35mm terms at F3.5-5.3.

The 1/2-inch sensor is physically larger than the sensors in most small compacts. At 24 mm the lens handles interiors and landscapes, while 360 mm reaches distant subjects. The body measures 104 x 63 x 33 mm and weighs 215 g, and the monitor is 3 inches. The telephoto end holds F5.3 at 360 mm, a fairly bright figure for that reach. The camera runs on the dedicated NP-50 lithium-ion battery and supports SD, SDHC and SDXC cards.

Buying one used

It uses the dedicated NP-50 lithium-ion battery, so check that the pack holds a charge and that a charger is included. Storage is SD, SDHC or SDXC. Test the 15x lens through its range and inspect the 3-inch screen.
