About the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H70
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H70 is a travel zoom compact from January 2011. Its 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor has about 16 megapixels, and the 10x optical zoom covers 25-250 mm in 35mm terms at F3.5-5.5.
The aperture only narrows to F5.5 at the long end, a smaller change than on several rivals of similar reach. The body measures 102 x 58 x 29 mm and weighs 194 g, with a 3-inch monitor and SD, SDHC or SDXC card support. Power comes from the Lithium-Ion NP-BG1 battery, which is shared with other Cyber-shot models and so is easier to match with a spare. A 25 mm wide end and 250 mm telephoto make it a capable choice for holidays, family events and general walking-around use in good light.
Buying one used
Check that the NP-BG1 battery holds a charge and that its charger is included. Run the 10x lens through its range, inspect the 3-inch screen, and test an SD, SDHC or SDXC card.
