About the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 was released in February 2007 as a high-zoom travel compact. Its headline feature is a 31-465 mm lens with a 15x optical zoom and an aperture range of F2.7-4.5, paired with a 1/2.5-type CCD of about 8.0 effective megapixels.

The body measures 110 (W) x 83 (H) x 86 (D) mm and weighs about 440 g, giving a firm grip. It has a 3-inch screen, uses the dedicated NP-BG1 battery and records to Memory Stick media. Reaching from wide scenes to distant subjects with one lens suits travel scenery and moving subjects alike, from landscapes and monuments to distant wildlife and events. Having F2.7 at the wide end is a plus when the light fades.

Buying one used

The battery is the dedicated NP-BG1 and media is Memory Stick. Run the 15x lens through its full range, and check the 3-inch screen, charge life and card reading.
