About the Casio EX-ZR5000
Released in September 2016, the Casio EX-ZR5000 is a compact built around a 1/1.7-type BSI-CMOS sensor of about 12 megapixels, which is physically larger than the chips used by most travel compacts. The lens covers 19-95 mm in 35mm-equivalent terms with a 5x optical zoom and an aperture of F2.7-6.4.
The starting point of 19 mm is unusually wide, which suits group photos, interiors and landscapes where space is tight; the telephoto end is modest by comparison. The camera measures 108 x 62 x 38 mm and weighs about 249 g. A 3-inch monitor is provided, the battery is the NP-130A lithium-ion pack, and images are written to SD, SDHC or SDXC cards.
Buying one used
The NP-130A battery and a USB charger are what to confirm. Test the wide-angle lens at 19 mm for soft corners or decentring, check the 3-inch monitor for marks, and make sure the SD slot reads cards.
