About the Fujifilm FinePix JX500
Fujifilm released the FinePix JX500 in January 2012, and it is registered as an older compact. It is a plain, lightweight camera: a 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor of 14 megapixels, a 5x optical zoom covering 26-130 mm in 35mm terms, and an aperture of F3.5-6.3. The body is 100 x 56 x 24 mm and weighs 113 g.
The rear monitor is 2.7 inches, smaller than the 3-inch screens on many contemporaries, so image review is more limited. Power comes from the NP-45A lithium-ion battery, and images go to SD, SDHC or SDXC cards. The lens range handles everyday snapshots, family photos and casual travel, without the reach for distant subjects. Its small size and low weight are its main practical strengths.
Buying one used
Check the NP-45A battery for charge retention, and confirm that SD, SDHC or SDXC cards are read. Inspect the small 2.7-inch monitor and the lens extension for smooth movement.
