About the Kodak EasyShare M853
The Kodak EasyShare M853 arrived in June 2007 with a 1/2.5-type CCD of about 8 megapixels. Its lens covers 37-111 mm in 35 mm terms, a 3x optical zoom with an aperture range of F2.8-5.2.
The F2.8 opening at the wide end helps indoors and at dusk. The body measures 93 x 58 x 23 mm and weighs 165 g, with a 2.5-inch screen on the back, and images are saved to SD cards. The 37-111 mm range suits group photos and travel snapshots. The compact body fits easily into a bag, so it can travel with you every day and come out whenever a scene catches your eye, indoors or out.
Buying one used
It uses a dedicated battery. Check that the battery door closes firmly, that SD cards are read correctly, that the lens extends smoothly, and that the 2.5-inch screen displays cleanly.
