About the Nikon Coolpix S810c
The Nikon Coolpix S810c, from April 2014, is a travel zoom with an unusually large 3.7-inch monitor. It carries a 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS sensor of 16 megapixels behind a 25-300 mm-equivalent lens with 12x optical zoom, running from F3.3 to F6.3. That focal range stretches from wide landscapes to portraits and distant details, making it a flexible single-lens carry for trips.
The large screen is the defining feature of the design and dominates the back of the body, which measures 113 x 64 x 28 mm and weighs 216 g. Compared with ordinary compacts of the time it is thicker, a reflection of the zoom and screen. Power comes from the EN-EL23 battery, and images are stored on SD, SDHC or SDXC cards.
Buying one used
Check the EN-EL23 battery health, as the 3.7-inch screen is a heavy power draw. Test with an SD, SDHC or SDXC card, exercise the zoom through its full range, and inspect the big monitor for cracks, pressure marks or dead pixels.
