About the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS6 (Lumix DMC-FT6)
Panasonic released the Lumix DMC-TS6 in January 2015, and it is sold as the DMC-FT6 in some regions. It is a rugged compact with a 1/2.33-type CMOS sensor of about 16 megapixels and a 28-128 mm lens in 35mm-equivalent terms.
The 4.6x optical zoom has an aperture of F3.3-5.9, noticeably brighter at the long end than simpler waterproof models. The body measures 110 x 67 x 29 mm and weighs 214 g, and a 3-inch monitor makes underwater or sunlit framing easier. Power comes from a lithium-ion battery with a charger, and storage is SD, SDHC or SDXC. It is a reasonable fit for holidays involving water, sand or snow where a normal compact would be at risk.
Buying one used
Inspect the door seals, locks and gaskets for wear, sand or corrosion, and check inside the lens window for moisture. Test the lithium-ion battery with its charger, the 3-inch monitor and the SD slot.
