The Pentax Optio M85 was released in September 2009 with a 1/2.3-type CCD of about 12 megapixels. Its lens covers 32-96 mm in 35 mm terms at F2.9-5.2, a 3x optical zoom, and an F2.9 wide end is fairly bright for that zoom range.
The body measures 93 x 58 x 24 mm and weighs 145 g, with a 2.7-inch screen on the back. At 24 mm it is somewhat thicker than the slimmest compacts of the period. Because the wide end is 32 mm, tight rooms may need you to step back further than with 28 mm models. The dedicated battery is the D-LI95, and images are saved to SD or SDHC cards.
