About the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom
The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom appeared in April 2014 as a hybrid that pushed a real zoom lens into a large, thin body. Its 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS sensor offers 21 megapixels, and the lens covers 24-240 mm in 35mm-equivalent terms with a 10x optical zoom and an aperture of F3.1-6.3. This gives it the reach that compact cameras of the period had and a 4.8-inch monitor that is much larger than theirs.
The body is wide and flat, measuring 138 x 71 x 17 mm and weighing 200 g, which makes the lens hump the main thickness to inspect. A good fit for travellers who value a big screen and a mid-length zoom over a small footprint. Memory goes in an SD slot.
Buying one used
Check that the battery supplied is the correct pack for the camera and charges properly. Test the SD slot with a card, run the 10x lens through its full range, and inspect the 4.8-inch monitor for scratches or screen damage.
