About the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX95
Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-HX95 was released in September 2018 as a small travel zoom. Its 1/2.3-type BSI-CMOS sensor delivers about 18 megapixels, and the 30x optical zoom spans 24-720 mm in 35mm-equivalent terms, with an aperture of F3.5-6.4.
The body measures 102 x 58 x 36 mm and weighs about 242 g, making it one of the lighter cameras to carry such a long lens. That reach is useful for distant architecture, wildlife at a safe distance and travel shots where changing lenses is not practical, although the narrow aperture at the telephoto end favours daylight. It has a 3-inch monitor, uses the NP-BX1 lithium-ion battery that Sony shares across many models, and saves images to SD, SDHC or SDXC cards.
Buying one used
Check the NP-BX1 battery runs for a reasonable time and that its charger is included. Extend the 30x zoom fully, look for dust or scratches on the lens, and test the 3-inch monitor and SD slot.
