About the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W650
Released in January 2012, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W650 combines a 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor of about 16 megapixels with a 5x optical zoom covering 25-125 mm in 35mm terms at F2.6-6.3.
Its 25 mm wide end helps in tight interiors and broad views. The body is 94 x 56 x 19 mm and 124 g, with a 3-inch monitor on the back. SD, SDHC and SDXC cards are supported, and the battery is the Lithium-Ion NP-BN, sold with a charger. The F2.6 opening at the wide end gives some headroom indoors, while the F6.3 aperture at 125 mm calls for brighter light. It is a straightforward compact for walking around and everyday snapshots.
Buying one used
Check that the NP-BN battery still charges well and that a charger comes with it. Cards can be SD, SDHC or SDXC. Look over the 3-inch screen and confirm the lens extends and retracts smoothly.
