About the Casio Exilim EX-S5
The Casio Exilim EX-S5 was released in January 2009 as a very slim compact, measuring 102 x 35 x 22mm and weighing 100g. It uses a 1/2.3-inch CCD of about 9 megapixels behind a lens rated F3.1-5.6, and the rear screen is a 2.7-inch LCD. Power comes from the dedicated NP-80 lithium-ion battery, and images are recorded to SD / SDHC cards. With a body only 35mm tall and 100g in weight, it is built for easy carrying in a pocket or the corner of a bag rather than for handling bulk or grip. At 22mm deep, it also stays flat against clothing, so the outline barely shows when it is carried in a pocket.
Buying one used
The battery is the NP-80; check whether it is genuine or third-party and how long it lasts. Look for body bends, smooth lens movement, LCD condition and SD / SDHC reading.
