About the Casio Exilim EX-Z280

The Casio Exilim EX-Z280 is a 2009 (August) compact built around a 1/2.3-inch CCD of about 12 million pixels. Its lens covers 26-104 mm in 35mm terms at F2.6-5.9, a 4x optical zoom, and the F2.6 opening at the wide end helps for indoor shooting at 26mm.

The body measures 97 x 53 x 20 mm and weighs 133 g, with a 2.7-inch LCD. Power is the dedicated NP-80 lithium-ion battery, and images go to SD / SDHC cards. Since the battery type is fixed, make sure a matching NP-80 and its charger come with the camera. The 26mm start and F2.6 aperture suit room interiors and group shots, while the 104mm end handles modest telephoto framing for portraits and street scenes.

Buying one used

The battery is the NP-80, so check that the battery and charger are both present. Cards are SD / SDHC. Inspect the F2.6 lens for haze or dust and the 2.7-inch LCD for clean display.
