About the Fujifilm FinePix SL240
The Fujifilm FinePix SL240 is a January 2012 long-zoom camera, listed as a travel compact. Despite that label, it is much larger than a pocket model: 122 x 93 x 100 mm and about 510 g. The size accommodates a 24x optical lens covering 24-576 mm in 35mm terms at F3.1-5.9, in front of a 1/2.3-inch CCD with about 14 megapixels effective.
A 3-inch monitor is on the back. Power comes from the NP-85 lithium-ion battery, and recording is to SD, SDHC or SDXC cards. The wide 24 mm start and 576 mm end give very broad coverage, from landscapes to distant subjects, and the substantial body gives a firmer grip at long focal lengths. It suits daytime travel, events and general outdoor use rather than low light.
Buying one used
This is a larger body, so check the grip and lens barrel for wear. Confirm the NP-85 battery holds charge, extend the 24x zoom fully, and test an SD, SDHC or SDXC card.
