About the Panasonic FZ2500
The FZ2500 appeared in September 2016 as a larger bridge-style camera with a 1-inch BSI-CMOS sensor of about 20 megapixels. Its 20x optical zoom covers 24-480 mm in 35mm-equivalent terms, and the aperture of F2.8-4.5 stays fairly bright for a zoom of this length.
At 138 x 102 x 135 mm and about 915 g, it is clearly a camera for a bag or a strap rather than a pocket. The size buys a lens that is useful for events, travel and distant subjects alike, and the larger sensor than usual helps when light is limited. A 3-inch monitor handles framing and playback, the DMW-BLC12 lithium-ion battery supplies power, and images go to SD, SDHC or SDXC cards.
Buying one used
Confirm the DMW-BLC12 battery and charger are included. Run the 20x zoom through its whole range for grinding or lens wobble, inspect the front element, and test the 3-inch monitor and SD card slot.
