About the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H90
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H90 dates from February 2012 and is registered as a travel compact with a long zoom. A 16x optical lens covers 24-384 mm in 35mm terms with an aperture of F3.3-5.9, in front of a 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor of 16 megapixels. CCD was already giving way to BSI-CMOS in cameras of this period, so the H90 is a late example of that sensor type in a long-zoom body.
It measures 105 x 60 x 34 mm and weighs 222 g, with a 3-inch monitor. The battery is the NP-BG1, and storage is SD, SDHC or SDXC. The wide 24 mm start is handy for interiors and landscapes, while the 384 mm end brings distant subjects closer in daylight.
Buying one used
Look for a genuine NP-BG1 battery that still holds charge, and test the 16x zoom through its full travel. Confirm the SD, SDHC or SDXC slot reads cards and check the 3-inch monitor for scratches.
