About the Canon IXY DIGITAL 400
The Canon IXY DIGITAL 400, released in March 2003, packs a 1/1.8-inch CCD of about 4 megapixels into a body only 27.8 mm thick. Its lens spans 36-108 mm in 35mm terms, described as roughly 3x optical zoom, a framing range that works well for people shots and moderate distances.
The monitor is a 1.5-inch low-temperature polysilicon TFT with 100% coverage. Dimensions are 87.0 x 57.0 x 27.8 mm without protrusions, and weight is about 185 g without battery or card. A rechargeable NB-1LH lithium-ion pack ships in the box, and the ACK500 AC adapter kit is listed separately. Images are saved to CompactFlash. Among the IXY DIGITAL line of the time, this one carries the larger 1/1.8-inch sensor while keeping a pocket-friendly width, which is the main point of the design.
Buying one used
Uses the NB-1LH rechargeable lithium-ion battery, supplied with the camera: confirm it still charges and holds power. Media is CompactFlash, so test card recognition. Check the retractable lens operation and the 1.5-inch monitor.
