About the Canon PowerShot ELPH 115 IS (IXUS 132)
Canon sold this camera as the PowerShot ELPH 115 IS in some regions and as the IXUS 132 in others, a naming split that was common for the brand. It was released in January 2013 and uses a 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor of about 16 megapixels. The lens covers 24-120 mm in 35mm-equivalent terms with a 5x optical zoom and an aperture from F2.7 to F5.9, a bright wide end that helps indoors and in evening light.
The body is a slim 93 mm wide, 57 mm high and 20 mm deep, at about 135 g, making it a true pocket camera. A 3-inch monitor handles framing. Power is the NB-11L battery, and images are saved to SD, SDHC or SDXC cards.
Buying one used
Check that the NB-11L battery charges and lasts, since small packs wear out with age. Test an SD, SDHC or SDXC card, make sure the lens extends and retracts cleanly, and look over the 3-inch monitor.
