About the Canon PowerShot S10

Released in October 1999, the Canon PowerShot S10 uses a 1/2-inch CCD with a 35-70 mm lens in 35mm terms at F2.8, described as roughly 2x optical zoom. The sensor is physically larger than the chips in many small compacts.

The body measures 105.4 x 69.4 x 33.8 mm without protrusions and weighs about 270 g. Power is a 2CR5 lithium battery, with a dedicated nickel-metal hydride battery and a dedicated AC adapter listed as options. Images are saved to CompactFlash. A short 2x zoom and a bright F2.8 lens are the main optical points, and the 2CR5 power source means it is good to confirm the battery arrangement before relying on it. The S10 is the starting point of the S-series, which grew through several later generations.
