About the Canon PowerShot Pro70
The Canon PowerShot Pro70 was released in November 1998 and carries a 1/2-inch CCD. Its lens covers 28-70 mm in 35mm terms at F2.0, described as roughly 2.5x optical zoom. An F2.0 maximum aperture is fast for a zoom of this range and was the lens headline of the model.
The body is large at 145 x 85 x 132 mm and weighs about 690 g, a shape closer to a compact SLR than a pocket camera, with room for a deep grip. Power is a 2CR5 lithium battery, with a dedicated nickel-metal hydride battery and a dedicated AC adapter also listed. Images are recorded to CompactFlash. It belongs to the Pro line of early PowerShot cameras, aimed at users who wanted a brighter lens and a more substantial body than the entry models offered.
Buying one used
Uses a 2CR5 lithium battery, with a dedicated nickel-metal hydride pack and AC adapter as options: check that a working supply exists. Media is CompactFlash, so test card recognition. Run the F2.0 zoom through its range and check the display.
