About the Canon PowerShot N Facebook ready
The Canon PowerShot N Facebook ready was released in August 2013 and has a design unlike most compacts, with a squarish body of 79 mm wide, 60 mm high and 29 mm deep. Inside is a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor of about 12 megapixels behind a 28-224 mm-equivalent lens with 8x optical zoom and an aperture of F3 to F5.9. That range covers everyday snapshots and moderate telephoto work.
At about 195 g it feels dense for its size. A 2.8-inch monitor is used for shooting and review. The Facebook ready label in the name points to the sharing focus of this edition. The NB-9L battery supplies power, and media are SD, SDHC or SDXC cards.
Buying one used
Check that the NB-9L battery holds charge, as the pack is small. Test an SD, SDHC or SDXC card, turn the lens ring and zoom through the range, and inspect the 2.8-inch monitor for scratches or dead pixels.
