About the Canon PowerShot S90
The Canon PowerShot S90, released in October 2009, is a premium slim compact that trades pixel count for a larger sensor and a bright lens. It uses a 1/1.7-type CCD with about 10 megapixels, behind a 28-105 mm equivalent lens at F2.0-4.9, a 3.8x optical zoom. The rear screen is 3.0 inches.
The F2.0 maximum aperture at the wide end helps indoors, and keeping the resolution near 10 megapixels leaves each pixel with more area than a smaller sensor of the same pixel count would. The body is 100.0 x 58.4 x 30.9 mm and weighs about 175 g without battery and card. It runs on the dedicated NB-6L lithium-ion battery and records to SD, SDHC or MMC cards.
Buying one used
The battery is the dedicated NB-6L, so check its condition and whether a charger is included. Test the ring control, listen to the lens extending, and confirm SDHC card recognition and screen condition.
