About the Kodak EasyShare M550
The Kodak EasyShare M550, released in January 2010, is an older compact with a 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor of about 12 megapixels. Its 5x optical zoom spans 28-140 mm in 35mm terms, and the 28 mm wide end gives a broad view for interiors and streets.
The monitor is 2.7 inches, images are stored on SD or SDHC cards, and the battery is a dedicated KLIC-7006. At 98 x 58 x 23 mm and 125 g it is light for a 5x zoom. The lens handles group shots indoors and street scenes at the wide end, and moderately distant portraits at 140 mm, so one camera covers most casual travel and family use. The sensor size of 1/2.3 inches and the 12-megapixel count place it among the ordinary compacts of its year.
Buying one used
The battery is the dedicated KLIC-7006, and a small cell in a light body deserves a runtime test. Check the 5x lens movement, inspect the 2.7-inch screen, and confirm SD or SDHC cards record correctly.
