About the Kodak EasyShare M380
Released in January 2009, the Kodak EasyShare M380 pairs a 1/2.3-type CCD of about 10 megapixels with a 38-190 mm equivalent lens at F3.1-5.6, a 5x optical zoom. The wide end is a modest 38 mm, but the telephoto end reaches 190 mm, so the lens leans toward distant subjects such as stage events, pets and sports days.
The rear screen is 3 inches. The body measures 100 x 60 x 20 mm and weighs 155 g. It uses the rechargeable KLIC-7003 battery, supplied with its own charger when new, and records to SD or SDHC cards. Sports days, school plays and pets at a distance are the sort of scenes where a 5x lens like this earns its place, while the 3-inch screen helps with framing.
Buying one used
The battery is the KLIC-7003, so check that a charger is included. Run the 5x zoom through its full range, listening for smooth movement, and confirm SD or SDHC cards are recognized and the 3-inch screen is in good condition.
