About the Kodak EasyShare M863
The Kodak EasyShare M863 is a slim compact released in January 2008, built around a 1/2.5-type CCD of about 8 megapixels. It carries a 34-102 mm equivalent lens, a 3x optical zoom at F2.8-5.1, and a 2.7-inch rear screen.
At 91 x 57 x 21 mm and 155 g, it is light enough for a shirt pocket. Power comes from the dedicated KLIC-7001 battery, and images are saved to SD or SDHC cards. The 34 mm wide end helps with indoor group shots, and F2.8 at that setting makes it a handy everyday snapshot camera. The 102 mm telephoto end is comfortable for portraits, and the 8-megapixel resolution is plenty for ordinary prints and screen viewing. The F2.8 aperture at the wide end is helpful in dimmer rooms, while the 3x range keeps the lens compact when retracted. Thanks to the 21 mm thickness, it fits easily into a small bag as well as a pocket.

Battery is the dedicated KLIC-7001; look at runtime and whether a charger is included. Check SD/SDHC card recognition, lens operation, and the 2.7-inch screen for scratches or uneven display.
