Released in January 2010, the Samsung TL205 (PL100) is a compact built around a 1/2.33-type CCD with about 12 megapixels. Its lens covers 35-105 mm in 35 mm terms at F3-5.6, a 3x optical zoom, and the screen is 2.7 inches. The body is 99 x 59 x 20 mm and weighs 177 g.
With 12 megapixels on the same sensor size, each pixel gets a little more area than it would with a higher pixel count, which can help a little with noise. The F3 maximum aperture at the wide end is reasonably bright for a 3x zoom. At 20 mm thick, the body slips into a jacket pocket. Storage is SD or SDHC, and power comes from a dedicated battery.
